On a warm and sunny June day, hundreds of
staunch and vocal 'No Dam' supporters flocked to the Gold
Coast to make a statement at the Qld Labor Party Conference
for 2008. In the heart of metropolitan Surfers Paradise,
a long way from the fertile fields and quiet country life
of the Mary Valley, protesters made sure it was known
that there ARE alternatives to building the disastrous
Traveston Dam - and these are cheaper, less environmentally
catastrophic, quicker to implement and will be reliable
as we head into times of uncertain climate change.
