What's So Dam Funny?/ Spiderweb

The proposed dam would have disastrous impacts on at least 10 already endangered species, and could hasten the demise of many more. Downstream impacts would include degradation of dugong feeding areas, migratory bird habitats and the RAMSAR Treaty wetlands of international significance at the mouth of the Mary River. The EIS content regarding fauna species, habitat mapping, field research, potential negative impacts and proposed mitigation measures was alarmingly brief and incomplete. This lack of vital preparatory research was noted in many of the 17,000 responses to the EIS.
