The government and QWI seem impervious to any external influence that questions their dam-building campaign, and have shown an astounding reluctance to investigate alternatives. Instead they have offered broad superficial assurances, backed by minimal scientific research, to promote Traveston Dam as a viable water supply and solution to the water crisis. Since the announcement of the proposal in April 2006, deep cracks have continued to appear in the government’s pro-dam facade - in fact, the closer the scrutiny, the uglier it looks.
