What's So Dam Funny?/ Dammit Comics

The announcement of Traveston Dam was a knee-jerk political decision, following a single desktop study into potential South-East Queensland dam and weir sites. The study cautioned that it was a “...preliminary working document only” and that more detailed and accurate assessments were required. The lack of such studies became patently clear in the Senate Committee Enquiry into ‘Options for additional water supplies for South East Queensland’ which was initiated in response to vocal opposition to the dam proposal. The then-Premier Beattie’s announcement, in Parliament, that this dam would proceed “...feasible or not” is a chilling reminder of the lack of rigour that underpins this project.
