| In the nationally endorsed Labor Platform, in 2007, it was decided that “the responsibility of all governments [is] to... maintain the ecological health of river systems.” QWI’s proposal to build a Freshwater Species Conservation Centre at the dam site after demolishing river habitat is not an adequate substitute for this, and will only result in preserving specimens… not species. It is a thinly veiled government stunt and indicative of the flagrant environmental disregard shown by QWI and the Queensland Government in this project so far. |
