What's So Dam Funny?/ The End is Bligh

The Queensland Government appears to be increasingly out of step with the national Labor Party platform on water issues, which is more akin to the beliefs upheld by No Dam campaigners. The platform includes: “Australia’s approach to rivers in the past has been to take as much water as we possibly could...our approach in the future must be to determine and provide the level of environmental flow necessary to maintain a healthy river system...” “Labor is concerned that unsustainable levels of extraction, and major alterations to the seasonal flow patterns of our rivers by dams and weirs have disturbed the natural balance in many river systems.”

Labor Party Policy on Water. ALP National Platform as debated and adopted at the 44th ALP National Conference in April 2007.
