The Mary River is home to 3 endangered and vulnerable vertebrate species - Queensland Lungfish, Mary River Cod and Mary River Turtle. Although the cod and turtle are elusive species, lungfish are easy to spot on a quiet canoe trip... the river has been the focus of many scientific and research groups, as one of few remaining undammed riverine habitats.
